Stop using the affected drive
Immediately stop using the drive where the MP3 files were deleted. Any write operation can overwrite the hidden data and make recovery impossible.
Select the proper scan mode
RecoverHelper offers three scan modes:
- Quick Scan – reads the MFT and restores files with original names, ideal right after an accidental delete on NTFS.
- Deep Scan – runs Quick Scan then signature‑carves the whole volume, the default for most cases.
- Carving Only – pure signature scan for FAT32, exFAT or raw cards where filenames are lost.
Recover to a different drive
The program opens the source drive read‑only and blocks same‑drive output. Choose a separate USB stick, external SSD, or another partition to save the recovered MP3s.

Step‑by‑step recovery guide
- Stop using the drive and connect it to your computer.
- Launch RecoverHelper and select the drive.
- Choose Quick Scan for recent deletions or Deep Scan for thorough recovery.
- Preview the found MP3 files.
- Click “Recover” and select a different destination drive.
